I used to play The Sims a lot. I loved Living Large, I loved House Party, and I loved Hot Date. This, however, doesn't seem like much of an expansion pack. There's a couple of new things to do, but I'd rather that they just added those activities to Hot Date's downtown area. Sure, you can take the kids along on vacation, which is great, but again, they could have just added this feature to Hot Date's downtown instead.

I've gone from playing The Sims regularly to playing it hardly at all, as it just runs far too slowly. I have a Pentium 3, and it takes five minutes to start-up. That doesn't sound like a long time, but sit and watch your clock for five minutes, and you'll get the idea. It's painful.

Once you're in the game, there's still more, and more, and more waiting. Seriously, I'm stuck spending more time waiting for things to load than I am playing the game.

Maybe this is for you if you've got a Pentium 4. If you've got anything slower, don't waste your time. It's fun for a while, then the vacation area becomes boring, and the loading time will start to drive you mad.

An Older Sims Fan, 30-something and not ashamed to play!

I got the Sims game a little over a year ago at my mother's suggestion. I have been hooked ever since! Sims Vacation has to be the best expansion pack yet. I have to admit I was getting a little bored with the game after a while, and Hot Date really didn't do much to renew my interest, but Vacation certainly did! There are more interactions between the characters, and the fact the whole family, including the children, can actually leave the home and go on vacation together, makes is so much more fun! I highly recommend this game, especially older video game players like myself. Maxis has done it again! Thank you for such a great game.

Whoa! What a game! In this vacation game, you could do more actions then the actions in the neighborhood. And this is like the same thing like YOU do when you go to vacation. It's almost the same thing! And if the Sims can talk to you, they probably would say thank you for bringing them to vacation. I like the game because, the Sims can play games, win tickets, buy prizes, rent tents and - this is interrupt because there is SO much things you could do and less time. I noticed that every new Sims game you install, you get more things.

If I was in one of the hotels I would play all day long and forget about eating or my energy. I would fish,(If my dad lets me.)and swim too. One of my FAVORITE things to do is build hotels. If I hadn't seen this game, I would have only read, draw, Play Battle Front(A Playstation game.),Do other electronics, sleep and play cards.

Note: If you have a hard time with your money, click the Shift key, the control key (Ctrl), and C at a time.then, first write rosebud, then do it again and do !;!;!;!;!;!;! until it fills the whole line. Bye!

Sims Vacation is a bust...

I bought Vacation yesterday, and after a lengthy install/boot time, I finally got a chance to actually play. However, when you get to the vacation spots, your sims will move in extreme slow motion...even in ultra-speed. I decided maybe I had too many downloads so I decided to completely remove all the games, and re-install all over again, which really burned me since I had completed 4 neighborhoods (that's 40 families, houses, accessories, etc., etc., etc.). After re-installing, it worked okay...for about 5 minutes...then back to slo-mo...the only thing that seems to help is restarting your pc, then starting the game again...which takes FOREVER to boot, as I said above.

The one good thing I can say about it is there are many new interactions, especially with the kids. (Oh, and there are lots of new objects as well, many that you can bring home with you for you and your neighbors/friends to ooh and ahh over), but that's about it. I much prefer Hot Date over the new Vacation. If they come out with a patch to help this 'snail movement' problem, I might change my mind...but as for this Sim-addict, I'm sorely disappointed.

The best game yet!!!!!!!

The Sims Expansin Pack;vacation is so cool to play and every game Maxis makes just get better that the last. Hot Date was cool with the new downtown area but this is just way better. I'm glad that each neighborhood has its own vacation spot. What will the master minds think of next??? I hope in the fiture they have an expnsion pack that is teenagers and has cool places for them to hang out in the down-town area!!!!

SIMS VACATION - A WELL DESERVED REST FOR YOUR SIMS

OK, so you think you're the master of the Downtown and kid's relationships? Well, there's another world that you can take over! The Vacation Island allows you to build a Forest resort, a snow park, or a surfer's paradise beach! You can build arcade games(Most only allowed to be placed on terrain), snow slides, snowboarding half pipes, fishing piers, snow picnic rugs, tents, lodge check in receptions and much more! New characters include Betty the Yeti, holiday directors, Robin Hood and beach sharks(hired depending on the natural land). But if you're dependant that your Sim's™ mood stays high, I suggest not going on vacation, as the trip home can be painful, but it's your choice, so do whatever you want. Unlike downtown, on Sims™ Hot Date, you can't place cookers and hire chefs. So be sure to look out for the buffet table.
OTHER INFO.
Requires the Sims to play, if you have game problems, refer to the manual included. For topics from the original game & Livin' it up, I suggest buying Prima's™ Sims Game guide.

The game is cool. The people who are complaining about not having enough money are wrong. All you need to know is the cheats. One that gets you a lot of money is type ctrl shift c. then rosebud. then enter. then type ctrl shift c then type !;!;!;!; and the more you type it the more money you get but when you do it dont click enter just go !;!;!;!;;; then hold the enter key down. Then you will have no problem with money. So if it's because of other rewiews saying you lose lots of money well don't listen to that. Over all its the best expansion yet

I like it.. but why the 30 dollars every time I buy one?

I have bought every sims game as soon as they have come out. I am also very addicted to it and luckily I can only play it at someone else's house, or I would be on all of the time. The problem is, I find myself spending all of this money on these games, when there is not much that is different. Yes, there are places to go (camping, snow, beach) and yes, you can do different things, (water balloon fights, snowball fights, archery, barbecue, hot tubbing) it just doesn't seem like its worth the money every time. Maybe if they would charge 10 dollars less! I guess it doesn't really matter because people would buy it anyway, including me ;) Anyway, that matter taken is care of.
I think my favorite part of these expansion packs are the new objects! There's more furniture, ways to interact with people, new paint, floors, walls, everything! That is the best part... because.. when it all comes down to it, i think my favorite part of it is to build new and different housing.
Unfortunately, when you go on vacation, it runs pretty slow because all of the people are walking around and there are a lot of graphics. (Those that have hot date will probably be used to this) Something else i like is that you can take your whole family, a friend, or a significant other on vacation with you! Anyway, its pretty fun so far... how are they going to top this?

Good game, but not necessary

As with all sims games, this is a great one, packed with new objects, interactions, and possibilities. It is, however, very similar to hot date. You go to a new area, .. It is so overpriced just to get there and its some [expensive] night[s] after that, your sims spending money goes very fast. There are some new objects, but nothing you really need. The metal detector is fun, but you get approx. a boot or [very little money]for about 2 hours of walking around. I like the carnival games, but the prizes you can get, some of them dont even fit on the soviner rack. I have to just carlessly plop them on the floor when I would rather display them for all to see. With the addition of Unleashed, I find I never use vacation' additives.

Finally, a must needed vacation!

The sims vacation finally allows the player to take their sims out of the homes and go on a fun and exciting vacation. Whether that be camping, snowboarding, to the beach, a hotel! The choices are completly up to the player. I bought this game today and I'm only stopping long enough to write this review on the game. Sims Vacation is amazing! It brings together the best of the old with the always fun and popular new! There are new objects, new wallpaper, new floors, new skins...everything you could possibly want it put into this game. I have all the add ons up to Hot Date installed on my computer, but I dont know if you need the addons to play this one, or if you just need the original sims like before. Either way, this game is sure to make a few hours of boredom pass easily. The gameplay is excellent, the graphics are great, and the fun is doubled, after the difficult Hot Date, this is definately what Maxis needed to put another star to their name. This game is a definate must, a wonderful edition to the Sims experience.
