One of the best Sims Expansion Packs

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 6

Highly recommend this expansion pack. I am having a lot of fun with it. Sims Vacation gives the kids in Sim families a chance to leave home (finally!) and interact with other people outside of home. They act more like real kids now. The snowboard pipe and the carnival games in Vacation are also terrific.

This game is soooooooooooo cool and anyone who doesn't like it is stupid. If you don't have the right computer don't waist money buying it. It is sooooooooooo cool and I would reccomend it to anyone. I love the snowy part best. P. S. To get the cheat codes hit shift c and ctrl at the same time, then to get more money type in rosebud, then hit enter. Then you can just do !;!;!;!;!; as much as you can then hit enter. Buy it, it is sooo worth it and more!

A bit much

So far this is my least favorite expansion pack, although even it has its good points. Children can finally interact with adults and each other beyond tickling, entertaining, and talking, which is fantastic. There are a few new items, but most of these are only useful at the vacation spots. My biggest issue with this is that the vacations themselves are kind of overwhelming. Each character goes off in a different direction as soon as you get there, and that makes thing difficult. There are a lot of different things to do at each spot, which is a good and bad thing as a lot of these things cost money, and if you happen to lose track of what one of your Sims is doing it can end up costing you a lot. I guess I'd recommend this expansion pack to any Sims lover, but for me it's more of a headache than it is fun. The novelty of the vacation wore off a little too quickly to be worth my money. On the upside though, despite having a lot of extra stuff in it, the game doesn't run any slower, well at least on my computer.

Good...but not as good as the rest

I am a die-hard Sims fan, I've wasted I-don't-know-how-many hours on these games, and I have all of the expansions.

Vacation is interesting, but as others have noted, there's just not enough NEW stuff in it to really justify the price I paid. The new objects that are there are interesting, I like the half-pipe and the snow slide, but somehow I expected more. Downtown and Vacation areas are so similar, only difference is if the whole family comes along or not. (Especially if you download some of the hacked objects, which I highly recommend...lots of free additions to your game, can't beat THAT price!) I would have given this more stars if it sold for about half the price.

Overall...if you're still enthralled by The Sims you'll probably love Vacation. But if you were starting to get bored with Hot Date you won't be missing much if you skip Vacation.

great fun - but SUPER SLOW to load

We have all of the expansion packs except for Hot Date and my kids and I agree that this is the most fun one. The only problem we have is the length of time it takes to load - 30 to 40 minutes ! I have a brand new computer - pentium 4 with 512 mg. RAM and it still takes what seems like FOREVER ! That is the biggest disappointment - so I suggest you get it started - go eat dinner or something - and then maybe it will be loaded by the time you are done.

I love this game!

My best friend has this game and when I go over we always play it! I have never once gotton sick of it! I don't know what all of the negative reviews are about, but I sure think it is a cool game. I have other sim games too, and I have noticed that if you play them for a long time with no break, then they get boring, but if poeple control them selves and don't play for hours at a time you don't get as sick of it. Plus, the game gives you lots of new items, clothes, wallpapers, floors, fire places, and more, so the game is really worth it. I would buy it if I were you, I am as soon as I get the money!

The sims vacation, is a great game infact they all are the ones i have played on anyway. This game allows you to go on holiday whenever you want. Choose from a different selection of clothing and items. Once you think your house is ready, or you feel like going away just call a cab, and they will get you on a holiday. Also when you save your house and keep your family there, you can go on the options menu and rebuild a vacation spot. No need to pay for it it pays for itself. Just clear and get rid of anything and also you can rename the vacation spot into what you have turned it into. Get rid of any bumps on the grass oo the spot that can be extra space to build something else instead there. Build 2 story shops and there are clothing stands, counters restaurant table and chairs a bar and everything you would have on a holiday vacation. Then when you are satisfied, save it then get back onto a family and take them to it. SOOOOOOOO ACE.

A GREAT "REALITY GAME"

I enjoyed this game fairly well for about a month...
then I realized...why the heck am I sitting around watching a pixelated version of myself doing repetitious chores when I could be doing them myself...
I mean, Plane flying and even car driving (except that dang car driving game where you go around picking kids up from school and dropping fathers off at work, I think it was called "SoccerMom") make sense....I can't just go hop on a plane or in some speedy sports car and rip up downtown.... but cooking, cleaning, sleeping, going to work, playing on a computer, going to the bathroom, reading a book, dancing, having conversations, watering the flowers, burning the house down and now going on a vacation!!!??? Aren't these the comforts of real life?
These guys did a great job on the game, don't get me wrong...
but spending your precious hours (and hours and hours and hours) playing this game makes a lot less sense then actually cooking, cleaning, sleeping, going to work, playing on a computer, going to the bathroom, reading a book, dancing, having conversations, watering the flowers, and going on vacation (burning your house down not advised).
