Yeah, I like this expansion pack, even though I don't believe it lives up to its predecessors. Less items than I had hoped for but you do get a new world. For those not so well aquainted with Sims, you may want to try the other expansion packs first. To tell you the truth, when I play with vacation it doesn't seem to effect my regular game plan, therefore not really that good of an addition. You can see for your self, but if you already own all of the other expantion packs, consider instead buying a CD player.

Okay, everyone knows that once you start playing this game, you're hooked. I remember playing this game from 6 pm to 6 am and making it to school.. and that was just the SIMS way before the expansion packs.
From all the vacation packs, I personally like vacation the most because it allowed the game to come one step closer to the perfection that i wanted. I mean, who wants a crabby sim who works everyday of the week if there even is a week. it's annoying to answer the phone and see that gloomy message about how your sim missed work. Also, the creativity of the vacation place itself is mind-boggling. a tent?? an igloo? it's incredible.
Of course there's a limit in every game, and sims still has a few more steps to go before overcoming it. first of all, the whole concept is too similar to hot date. other than the fact that the interactions while on vacation is a degree different from what you do downtown, it's not as diverse as you expect when buying the expansion pack. also i never had that much fun at the pre-built vacation sites so always make my own. there needs to be a clearer distinction between one that is luxurious and one that is economical.
But then again, these can be overlooked by going to the Sims Exchange. that is definitely the best part of this game. any questions? any downloads? go to the sims exchange. it is probably the best feature of this game that no other has.

A great break for you AND your sims!

Looking for something new and fun to do with your Sim Family? Never fear, you can take them on a little Sim vacation!

Kids are often shortchanged in the regular Sim play - you're focussed on the parents, on building up their careers and making the house nice. Just like in real vacations, this is time to kick back, relax and enjoy quality family time.

The vacation is a vacation for you, the player too. You're not quite a busy taking care of every little need, you're not worrying about friends or timetables. You're having fun! There are neat games to play, fun characters to interact with, new scenery to look at! Perhaps your only concern is ... running out of money. Just like real life!

You can camp. You can ski. You can even fish! You can find fun things to bring back home with you, to remind you of your time on vacation.

On the downside, if you have a guest, that guest is completely brainless. You can't help them take care of their needs, and they rarely do it well on their own. So your guest will be miserable. It's probably best to leave them at home :)

A well deserved break for both your sims AND you

Worst Expansion Pack

By rating this expansion only three stars, I am not telling you not to purchase the game beacuse it is a must-have addition to your "Sims" collection. As always, over 150 new objects including carnival games, the water slide, and fireplace with mantle are given to you in this expansion. Additionally,as you probably guessed from the title, your little Sim friends are allowed to take a vacation. Aside from the hard-to-manage cost of $500 for most Sim Families, vacationing isn't all that fun. Sure, you can play carnival games and sleep in beds away from home, but nothing amazingly amusing comes along with going on vacation. I must admit, however, that taking time of from work and school with out being penalyzed is a great plus. After Livin Large, House Party, and Hot Date, to skip out on Vacation would be a crime.

For my birthday this month, my aunt got me this game. After adding its features to the other purchased expansion packs, I was hooked. The environments that your sims live in are superbly detailed, and your sims happiness, fun, comfort, and hygene levels rise up to a spot decent enough to please them. The vacation Island is the most addictive part. You can either invite some friends and family on a vacation, or get out on your own, and explore the world!
You can go way up to the mountains, and compete in snowball fight, snowmen, and fortress contests! Then, have your sim go inside to relax in the lounge, while drinking a nice, hot cup of chocolate cocoa.
Another enjoyed area is the wilderness! Here, you compete in archery, water balloon fights, and throw darts!
Ahh...The Beach. The sims from all over simsville flock here, just to relax on a chair, and listen to the sound of the gentle waves washing up on the sandy shore. Here, you can rent metal detectors, and search for gold, treasure chests, or ancient toys, like old, rusty metal pails!
I would recommend this fantastic game for children, and adults of all ages!

Not the Direction I Want to Play With My Sims

You know what I love about The Sims? I enjoy builing houses and adding furniture as my income increases. I also enjoy enhancing my Sims skills and advancing them in their jobs. I do not enjoy just watching them interact so that I can "play house." Because of that, The Sims Vacation was the last expansion I bought because it disappointed me for the same reasons the Hot Date expansion did. I'm sure there are people that love to role-play their Sims in new downtown districts (i.e. Hot Date) or hotel resorts (i.e. Vacation) but I found both of those additions boring. It's already hard enough to keep all the Sims hygiene, social and other tabs updated, and it becomes even more difficult when you take your Sims on vacation. Sure, it's interesting for a few minutes to watch your Sims ride an attraction or another expansion feature but it's not what made the game fun for me in the first place. I would only recommend this expansion for the diehard fans of The Sims series. I'd check out The Sims Unleashed or The Sims Superstar expansion packs (the two most recent expansions) first because they seem to focus on normal gameplay enhancements instead of the "side attractions" that make up The Sims Vacation or The Sims Hot Date. Of course, if you only want new decorations and furniture, Vacation adds it own fair share of the normal expansion extras. Honestly, I'd wait for the next deluxe edition that packages several expansions together. With the upcoming sequel, you can expect some good deals as The Sims tries to repackage all sequels for one last sales push. Or you can just wait for the sequel which will be out in a few months and has the same gameplay but much better graphics.

FUN...NOT!

Alright, I am going to tell you the truth. I think that this expansion game stinks. Number one reason. OMG! Do u know how much it slowed down my computer? it takes me like 20 minutes just to get to the normal neighborhood now and it takes like another 20 to get to Vacation Island. And when you finally get there, it is as boring as...well...its just boring. and ya kno what? ur sims get bored too. I mean, yeh, i guess its okay. its not HORRIBLE. it just isnt very fun. i dont really use it and it seems to me like a waste of money. it is up to u, but if i were u, i would chose a different expansion pack. like hot date or animal one. they seem to offer more than this one does. everybody seems to be giving it a lot of credit. i for one dont give it very much at all. well, good luck if you buy it and i hope it doesnt slow down ur computer.

This game looks so cool!

This looks like such a cool game! I have always wanted a way for my sims to go on vacation and now it's possible!
You can go hunting, buy souviners and go fishing, and snowboarding and other cool things! I can't wait till it comes out.

The most fun game out there is The Sims and all of the expansion packs. You control little people and tell them what to do! The Sims is pretty basic and okay, but I would highly recomend the first expansion pack, Sims Livin' Large. The second expansion pack is very cool, Sims House Party. Your sims can have a party! That is very cool. And then Hot Date, the third expansion pack, is great too. You can build a downtown and take your sims on dates! You can buy clothes, flowers, and jewelery! It is very cool. Now the greatest Sim game of all time, (so far who knows what the people at EA are thinking about for the next Sim game!)
Is awesome! You can take your Sims on VK! You can take them to the beach, camping, or to the mountains! Just watch out for out of control children, pickpocketers, and other scary things that could ruin your sims dream vacation! Have fun!

Just as addictive as before

I have every expansion pack on the market the first day it is out. Why you ask?? Well, because this game is the most addictive I have ever played. I start at 3 PM and play til 2 Am thinking that only about an hour has gone by.

This particular expansion pack is great. There are so many new objects, skins, and house tools. The best part, though, is going to Vacation Island. There, you can do anything from play arcade games for the sims with high fun ratings or fish for the lazier sims. Also, you can stay in the ritziest hotel or a tent on the ground. You can choose from three different types of areas--Snowy mountain area, sandy beach area, or the woodsy forest area. Whether you are wining and dining and dancing or having a picnic, Vacation Island is the place to be for your sims.

Also, while you are on Vacation Island, you can win tickets by playing the carnival midway games. You can trade these tickets in for a souveneir. This is cool because when you go back home, you can put it on a souvenier shelf. (that is just one of the many new items in Vacation). When you are on Vacation Island, you can even send postcards to your friends so you can keep your relationship score with them up. Oh, and if you can keep every family members' mood up in the green, you get an extra-special souveneir to place on your shelf for all the world (or at least any sim who visits your houe) to admire.

However, there is on disadvantage--you might be a bit groggy at work or school the next day if you play this game. This is because you lost sleep and are addicted.

I give this expansion pack five stars. I hope that this review encouraged you to try it, because if you love The Sims, you'll love it.
